IPL 2020 is all set to take place in UAE. Generally every franchise selects and develops their team based on their home conditions. This time however none of the IPL teams will be playing at their home turf, for the matter of fact they won’t even be playing in India. This might hurt a few teams as their team combinations were built with an aim of getting a home advantage. The IPL being conducted in UAE however might just benefit a few teams as the skills possessed by their team members might just be perfect for the UAE pitches and pitch conditions. Today we take a look at 4 such franchises that will be benefitted most by shifting the IPL in UAE
1) Chennai Super Kings:
IPL taking place in the Middle East might just be a blessing in disguise for the 3 time IPL champions as their team was spin heavy owing to the slow Chepauk surface. The pitches in UAE are spin friendly which should benefit CSK. With the likes of Jadeja, Chawla, Santner and Tahir CSK should fancy themselves to have a good season. Shane Watson and Dwayne Bravo who haven’t played much of cricket of late have also been a part of the T10 recently which took place in UAE and hence would be familiar with the conditions.
2) Mumbai Indians:
The defending champions consist of such a strong unit they seem to have an advantage in each and every ground in the world. UAE consists of big grounds and you need a little muscle power to get to the big 200+ totals, with the likes of Rohit, Pollard, QDK and both the Pandya brothers MI don’t have to worry about getting to the big 200+ totals. MI also have the best pace attack this season which includes Bumrah, Malinga, Boult and NCN and thus should be able to defend targets as well.
3) Royal Challengers Bangalore:
RCB is probably the one team which has a strong squad every season but haven’t yet won a title. This curse might end soon as RCB have got a perfect squad to win matches in this part of the world. Economical spinners like Chahal, Washington and Moeen Ali, Abundance of variety in the form of Morris, Steyn, Saini and Umesh Yadav. They’ve also got the muscle power and brute strength in the form of Finch, Kohli and ABD. This might be their best hance to win the title for the first time.
4) Delhi Capitals:
The capitals have a team which is tailor made for the pitches in UAE as they have arguably the best spin attack alongside CSK in the form of Ashwin, Axar Patel and Lamichhane. They have a formidable batting lineup in the form of sensible and calm players such as Dhawan, Rahane and Iyer as well as the hard hitters such as Jason Roy, Hetmyer, Pant and Stoinis. Overall they have one of the most balanced sides and should fancy themselves when they play in UAE.
