Zimbabwe national cricket team are set to welcome Bangladesh national cricket team for a full-fledged bilateral series beginning next month, with the tour featuring one Test, three ODIs and three T20Is across Harare and Bulawayo.

The series, confirmed by Zimbabwe Cricket on Friday, marks the return of major international cricket to Zimbabwe following the national side’s impressive campaign at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup earlier this year, where they reached the Super Eights stage for the first time.

The upcoming tour is expected to provide both teams an important opportunity to strengthen combinations across formats while also continuing a competitive rivalry that has produced several closely fought contests in recent years.

One-Off Test to Open the Tour

The tour will begin with a one-off Test match at Harare Sports Club from June 28 to July 2.

The Test encounter carries added significance considering the last red-ball series between the two sides in 2025 ended in a dramatic 1-1 draw. Zimbabwe had stunned Bangladesh with a memorable victory before the visitors responded strongly to level the series.

For Zimbabwe, the Test offers another opportunity to showcase their growth in the longer format. Over the last few years, the side has gradually become more competitive at home, particularly against Asian opposition.

Bangladesh, meanwhile, will look to improve their overseas Test record and continue building consistency away from home conditions.

ODI Series to Be Played in Harare

Following the Test, the teams will remain in Harare for a three-match ODI series scheduled on:

  • July 6
  • July 9
  • July 11

All three matches will be played at Harare Sports Club.

The ODI leg of the tour is particularly important for both sides as preparations continue for future ICC white-ball tournaments. Zimbabwe have shown notable improvement in limited-overs cricket recently, while Bangladesh are aiming to rebuild momentum after inconsistent performances in global competitions.

When Bangladesh last toured Zimbabwe in 2022, the hosts produced a memorable performance by winning both the ODI and T20I series. That success remains one of Zimbabwe’s most notable bilateral achievements in recent years.

T20Is Shift to Bulawayo

After the ODI series concludes, the action will move to Bulawayo for the three-match T20I series.

The T20Is are scheduled for:

  • July 15
  • July 17
  • July 19

All matches will be held at Queens Sports Club.

Zimbabwe will head into the series with confidence after their strong showing in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup hosted in India and Sri Lanka earlier this year. Their qualification for the Super Eights stage was widely praised and highlighted the team’s growing competitiveness in T20 cricket.

The home side will view the Bangladesh series as an opportunity to build on that momentum and further establish themselves as a dangerous team in white-ball cricket.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, will be eager to bounce back and improve their T20 consistency, particularly in overseas conditions.

Zimbabwe Cricket Excited About Return of Home Fixtures

Givemore Makoni, Managing Director of Zimbabwe Cricket, expressed enthusiasm about hosting Bangladesh and bringing top-level international cricket back to Zimbabwean venues.

Makoni highlighted the significance of the tour following Zimbabwe’s encouraging World Cup campaign and said the board expects a highly competitive contest across all three formats.

According to him, the series also reflects growing confidence in Zimbabwe cricket after recent progress on the international stage.

The return of regular home fixtures is considered crucial for Zimbabwe’s development, especially as the board continues to invest in rebuilding the national side across formats.

Important Series for Both Teams

The upcoming tour arrives at a key stage for both cricketing nations.

For Zimbabwe, it represents another chance to prove that their recent rise is sustainable. The team has shown improvement in both batting depth and bowling discipline, especially in home conditions where they have become increasingly difficult to beat.

Bangladesh, meanwhile, continue searching for stability in overseas cricket. While they remain highly competitive at home, consistent success abroad has remained a challenge. The Zimbabwe series gives them a valuable opportunity to test combinations and build confidence ahead of future international assignments.

The contest is also expected to feature several emerging players from both sides, making it an important platform for the next generation of cricketers.
