Rajasthan Royals are set to play two of their ‘home matches‘ at Barsapara stadium, Guwahati in the upcoming IPL season. The Barsapara Stadium is all set to become the 34th venue to host the IPL matches. The decision was taken at the meeting between the top officials of the franchise, IMG Reliance and Assam Cricket Association(ACA).

The Assam crowd will be ready to cheer their local boy Riyan Parag

This decision came in as the aftermath of issues between the franchise owners and the administrators of Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Royals wanted to play few of their home fixtures outside the pink city. Earlier Jaipur and Ahmedabad used to be the home venues for the Royals but due to development of the new stadium of the latter one,Royals had to adopt a new one.

Assam State finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed her delight on twitter for the appointment of the Barsapara Stadium and thanked the secretary and son of home minister, Jay Shah for his great initiative for the people of North-East India. Earlier in the year Guwahati also hosted the T20 International between India and Sri Lanks where India thrashed SL by a huge margin. Guwahati will also be excited to support its local boy Riyan Parag who had been exceptional for Royals in the previous season.

Well the way IPL is spreading over the country we can easily say that it has become the best mode to promote cricket in all the parts of the country.
