Mitchell Starc was on a hat-trick after removing Dawid Malan, Australia vs England, 3rd Ashes Test, Melbourne.

Australia end the second day of the Boxing Day Test as the pilot. The play was delayed due to rain yesterday, and also started half an hour late due to a Covid scare this morning. England got a few early breakthroughs in the first session but Marcus Harris and the Australian lower middle order added some crucial runs to the Australian scoreboard, managing a lead of 82 runs.

Mitchell Starc got two wickets in two balls, and was a real threat to the England batters. Boland was quite impressive as he added two wickets to his tally, that too in a single over and the visitors were reduced to 31/4. England still trail by 51 runs, and from here they need a special miraculous kind of a partnership to come back in the contest, where Australia aim an undefeatable 3-0.
