BCCI rejects Sanjay Manjrekar’s IPL 2020 requests

Recent reports suggest that Sanjay Manjrekar’s request to join the IPL 2020 Commentary panel has been rejected as BCCI rejects Sanjay Manjrekar’s IPL 2020 requests. It seems that the doors for the 13th edition of the Indian premiere League has been completely shut for the former Indian cricketer. Despite having sent emails to the BCCI in which he has apologised for his past comments the BCCI there hasn’t been any positive news for Manjrekar.

According to a report in the Mumbai Mirror, mails have been sent to the likes of Sunil Gavaskar, L Sivaramakrishnan, Murali Karthik and Harsha Bhogle seeking their availability for the IPL 2020 which is all set to take place in UAE. However, no such mail was sent to Sanjay Manjrekar regarding BCCI rejects Sanjay Manjrekar’s IPL 2020 requests. The decision to include or not include him is believed to be in the hands of the BCCI secretary Jay Shah and the BCCI chairman Sourav Ganguly.

Manjrekar in an interview(with Indian Express) had mentioned that he was removed from the panel because some player had a problem with him. He also mentioned that if reinstated he would abide by the rules and not break them. The reports now say that Sanjay Manjrekar has been snubbed for IPL 2020 commentary job by the BCCI. It is also believed that Sanjay Manjrekar was also ready to apologise for inappropriate comments and mistakes and hence mailed the BCCI asking them to reconsider their decision. 

It is widely speculated and believed that his sacking was a result of calling Jadeja a “Bits and Pieces” cricketer, fans on social media believe that it was this incident of Manjrekar mocking Jadeja with caused him to lose his job. Manjrekar further went on to say that he has made peace with Jadeja “You will see how benign it is when you hear it in the right context.

The player concerned obviously misunderstood this or was perhaps misinformed. By the way, the player and I have since privately made peace over this issue.” He said. Although various cricket fans across the globe wanted Manjrekar to be sacked from BCCI’s commentary panel many Users on various social media sites are now calling got Manjrekar to be reinstated as he has accepted his mistake and has said that he won’t repeat it and would abide by the rules and regulations set by BCCI.
