In a shocking news, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has been forced to cancel its only practice session before the start of the IPL 2024 Eliminator contest against Rajasthan Royals (RR) due to a security concern surrounding Virat Kohli’s safety. The incident occurred at the Gujarat College Ground in Ahmedabad, where RCB was set to practice on Tuesday.

According to reports, the Gujarat Police hinted that the primary reason behind the cancellation of the practice session and the press conference was Virat Kohli’s security. The police arrested four individuals from Ahmedabad over suspicions of terrorist activity, prompting RCB to take extra precautions to ensure the safety of their star player.

The development left many in the cricket fraternity perplexed, as it is unusual for a team to cancel a practice session due to security concerns. However, Vijay Singha Jwala, a police officer, clarified that Virat Kohli’s security is a top priority, and RCB did not want to take any risks.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals, who were also informed about the development, chose to go ahead with their practice session without any issues. However, some of their players, including R Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Riyan Parag, opted to stay at the hotel and miss the practice session.

The security measures taken by the police are expected to be intensified for the upcoming Eliminator match between RCB and RR on Wednesday. In fact, even IPL-accredited members were not allowed to enter RCB’s team hotel, while a “green corridor” was created for RR players to reach the training ground.
