As Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2024 final, the stakes are high at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, 26 May. Beyond the prestigious IPL title, both teams are eyeing substantial financial rewards.
The IPL, renowned for offering the highest prize money among franchise cricket tournaments globally, promises significant monetary incentives for the winners and other top performers.
While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to make an official announcement regarding the prize money for IPL 2024, it is anticipated to mirror the previous year’s figures. The Chennai Super Kings, who clinched the IPL 2023 title, took home Rs 20 crore, a sum expected to be the reward for this year’s champions as well.

The runners-up are set to receive Rs 13 crore, maintaining the same amount awarded last year. In IPL 2023, the total prize purse for teams was Rs 46.5 crore, with the team finishing third receiving Rs 7 crore and the fourth-placed team earning Rs 6.5 crore.
In addition to the team prizes, IPL 2024 will also reward individual performances through various awards. The Emerging Player of the Tournament will receive Rs 20 lakh, recognizing the rising talent of the season. The Orange Cap, awarded to the highest run-scorer, and the Purple Cap, given to the leading wicket-taker, will each come with a Rs 15 lakh prize.
Moreover, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of IPL 2024 will be honored with Rs 12 lakh. The Power Player of the Season, awarded for outstanding performances in the powerplay overs, and the Super Striker of the Season, recognizing the player with the highest strike rate, will each earn Rs 15 lakh.
Lastly, the Game Changer of the Season, awarded for impactful performances that shift the momentum in matches, will receive Rs 12 lakh.
