The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League will feature two new teams – Lucknow and Ahmedabad. Lucknow franchise have announced their name as the Lucknow Super Giants. Lucknow franchise is owned by Goenka group who previously had the rights of the Rising Pune Super Giants while Ahmedabad franchise was bought by CVC Capital Group.

Lucknow franchise was purchased by Sanjiv Goenka for whooping 7090 crores. This is the first time when a franchise from Uttar Pradesh will feature in the Indian Premier League.

The Goenka group owned Lucknow franchise picked India Vice-captain KL Rahul, Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, and talented uncapped leg spinner, Ravi Bishnoi from the pool of released player for the upcoming season of the IPL.

Earlier, Goenka group named the Pune franchise as Rising Pune Super Giants. The sources proved to be spot on with their predictions about the name. The debates will start about finalizing the name as of previous franchise but not much is going happen.
