Gautam Gambhir, Vijay Dahiya join Lucknow IPL Franchise

Former India batter turned politician Gautam Gambhir has been appointed as the mentor of the Lucknow franchise for 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. He will join the head coach, Andy Flower for the upcoming season of IPL. He had been a great performer of the tournament. Gautam Gambhir has two titles of the IPL under his belt, as the Kolkata Knight Riders Captain. The owner of the franchise, Sanjeev Goenka announced his appointment as mentor.

The former India wicket keeper batter, Vijay Dahiya will also join the franchise as the assistant coach. Currently, he is serving as the head coach of Uttar Pradesh. Vijay Dahiya was also the assistant coach for KKR from 2009, later in 2011 was joined by Gautam Gambhir as franchise Captain. The two Delhi batters have also shared experience in the Delhi Capitals in different roles across years.

KL Rahul has been appointed as the vice captain of the Indian test team by the All India senior selection committee in absence of Rohit Sharma. India’s limited overs captain, Rohit Sharma, has been ruled out of the test series against South Africa. Priyank Panchal has been added to the squad for the South Africa tour. Rohit Sharma picked up the hamstring injury during the practice session in Mumbai. The first test will begin on 26 December in Centurion.

Australia take a lead of 282 on Day 3,

Australia stand in a very comfortable position at the stumps on day 3. Australia ended the day with 45/1, having a massive lead of 282 runs on board. They have only lost David Warner just few overs before the stumps.

England were bowled out for 236 runs on day 3 failing to avoid the follow on, after Australia declared at 473/9 on day 2. Australia took the huge 1st innings lead of 237. Dawid Malan was the highest run scorer for England with his valuable 80 runs. He stitched a century partnership with captain Joe Root while other batters failed to deliver.

England docked a further three WTC points for slow over rate in Brisbane

England have lost three more WTC points for slow over rate during the first test at Gabba. England team were originally penalized with 100% match fees and 5 World Test Championship points by the ICC for maintaining slow over rate after first test. The ICC on Friday announced the penalty would now be eight points in total, a further increase of two points, making things difficult for England at the Points Table.
