An MLA from Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) demanded a ban against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for not giving chances to local players in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

SP Venkateswaran demanded a ban on this team during the discussion in the assembly, saying that Chennai Super Kings has been promoted as a team from Tamil Nadu but this team lacks talented players from the state in the current IPL season.

Raising the issue during a debate on Demand for Grants for the Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department in the Assembly, the MLA said, “They are making profit from our people through advertisements projecting it as Tamil Nadu’s team.” But they are not giving chance to any talented player of our state.

Chennai team can be ban for two years –

Chennai team has been banned for two years in the case related to fixing. In IPL 2016 and 2017, this team was not a part of the tournament. Along with Chennai, Rajasthan Royals were also banned for two years.

Both these teams were replaced by Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune Supergiants in 2016 and 2017. However, after the ban, Chennai made a spectacular comeback and also became the champions.
