According to reports, Shubman Gill might feature in the middle order of the Indian test team for the upcoming red ball series against New Zealand. Mayank Agarwal is likely to replace Rohit Sharma as opener in the first match of the series.
With Rahul and Mayank opening the batting, Gill might get a chance in the middle order. Gill showed his class in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2021. He is a good timer of the ball, and has played as an opener for team India since his debut in 2020.
The reports also suggest that uncapped batter Suryakumar Yadav has been included in the Indian test squad for the series against kiwis. Earlier, Suryakumar Yadav didn’t get a spot in 16-men squad (excluding Virat Kohli) but is set to join the team at Kanpur for the contest, if reports are to be believed.
Suryakumar Yadav was also included in the squad which travelled to England for the test series, as replacement to Shubman Gill. He was accompanied with Prithvi Shaw in his flight to England.
