Pakistan celebrate winning the ICC Champions Trophy

ICC announced the hosts for next cricket cycle (2024-2031). It has brought both Pakistan and Champions Trophy back in its scheme of things. The maiden season of Champions Trophy after its rehashing will be played in the Pakistan. Pakistan Cricket Board, with their new Chairman Ramiz Raja has managed to get the hosting rights for the fifty over tournament.

“It delights me no end that Pakistan will be hosting this prestigious world tournament . It is going to be a viewing boon to millions of Pakistani fans who had to wait patiently for years to be part of something as grand as this. World will sample our hospitality to go with our great exciting cricket,” Raja told Cricbuzz.

VVS Laxman accepts BCCI’s offer to become NCA chief

The former India middle order batter VVS Laxman has accepted BCCI’s offer to become NCA Chief. The new director of cricket at the the National Cricket Academy will take charge from December. He has already informed Sunrisers Hyderabad about quitting his role of mentor at the franchise.

BCCI is yet to announce Laxman’s appointment and the tenure as the director of cricket at the National Cricket Academy. He will be replacing his former teammate, Rahul Dravid, who was recently made the Head Coach for Men’s Cricket team of India.

Kane Williamson to skip T20I series, Southee named captain 

Kane Williamson is set to miss the three match T20I Series against India. The series between India and New Zealand is starting from November 17, barely three days after the later played the T20WC Final in Dubai. Kane Williamson will focus on test matches, so has decided to stay and practice his game with other red ball specialists in Kolkata.

Kane Williamson scored a 48-ball 85 and finished the tournament as the leading run-scorer for his team.

Tim Southee has been announced as the captain for the three match T20 Series. In an early setback to the Kiwi side during the world cup, the South Africa born batter Devon Conway is also out of the list. Conway was replaced by Daryll Mitchell, who helped New Zealand with their Final Qualification in Dubai.

New Zealand squad for T20 Series against India

2022 T20 World Cup: MCG to host the final

The defending Champions Australia will be hosting the 2022 ICC men’s T20 World Cup. Melbourne cricket ground will host the final of the ICC men’s T20 World Cup 2022 under the lights next year. T20 World Cup was due to be held in Australia last year but was postponed by two years due to the rise in the Corona cases.

The semi finals will be played in Adelaide and Sydney while 7 cities will host the league stage games. The iconic MCG recently hosted the final of women’s T20 world cup in 2020 where hosts were crowned as winners. They defeated India by 85 runs to win trophy for the fifth time in 7 editions. The MCG registered record crowd for a women’s cricket match of 86,174 people.
