Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh had a sexual harassment allegation against on which protest continues at Jantar Mantar, demanding that the investigation report of sexual harassment allegations be made public.
Several wrestlers including Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat gathered at Jantar Mantar. Their demand was that the government make public the report of the monitoring committee probing the sexual harassment allegations against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
Meanwhile, Olympic medalist Bajrang Punia said that this time all parties are welcome. He said that we are not associated with any one party, so this time everybody is welcome.
Punia said that whether BJP, Congress or AAP come, everyone is welcome because when we win medals, we do not hoist the flag of any party, we hoist the tricolor. When someone wins a medal, everyone comes to congratulate, not just one party. All the countrymen are welcome because today if we cannot fight for our sisters and daughters then we cannot fight against anyone.
Earlier this year, veteran wrestlers staged a sit-in protest alleging sexual harassment by Singh, following which the government constituted a six-member monitoring committee headed by Mary Kom to look into the allegations, whose report is yet to be made public.
Wrestlers protesting at Jantar Mantar said that unnecessary delay is being done in presenting the investigation report. Former world champion Vinesh Phogat said that we are getting tired of waiting for the report. We want an FIR to be registered against Brij Bhushan Singh.
He further said, who is running the federation despite such a serious allegation. At least the government can act on sexual harassment. We are demanding justice, we will continue to protest.
