In the final Test match of the Ashes series between England and Australia, Joe Root took a spectacular catch at second slip to dismiss Marnus Labuschagne. The match, held at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, witnessed an exceptional display of fielding skills by Root.

In the 43rd over, Mark Wood bowled a delivery that found the edge of Labuschagne’s bat, taking the ball towards the first slip where Joe Root was positioned. With lightning-fast reflexes, Root leaped to his left and grasped the ball with one hand, completing a magnificent catch. Labuschagne was left stunned as he saw Root’s brilliance in the field.

Interestingly, this catch by Root bore resemblance to Virat Kohli’s catch at second slip during India’s match against West Indies. In that match too, Kohli displayed remarkable athleticism to take a one-handed catch, albeit it was a slightly more challenging opportunity.

England, batting first in the contest, struggled to put up a competitive total, managing to score only 283 runs after losing 10 wickets. In response, Australia faced their own struggles as they lost crucial wickets early on. Only just Khawaja scored the highest run for Australian team with scoring 47 runs.
