The time period for an athlete training is not fixed. The time period for training of an athlete differs from individual to individual and based on the type of sport. Simone Biles of the United States has previously stated that she trains for 32 hours per week, with just one day off. Gymnast Gabby Douglas has stated that she trains from 8AM until lunchtime, has her lunch, and then trains again till dinnertime. Research published before the 2012 London Olympics revealed that some participants had put in 10,000 hours of training before the Games.

An Olympic athletes should do a proper warm up for at least 15 minutes. An athlete should jog or do skipping before starting the training.
