According to reports, The Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) is planning to start its 2021 domestic season from October.  The BCCI is looking at two plans for the domestic season. The committee will take decision according to the situation in the country due to to this pandemic. However with the evolution of Bio-Bubbles and contemporary to that the success of the vaccination program have given the brightest of hope for the resumption of a full-fledged domestic season. It includes both Men/Women, all age groups.

Ranji Trophy to return this year after 2 Years

If pandemic situation gets better in India then BCCI will host its domestic tournaments between 1st of October To 2 April 2022. The domestic cycle will consist of 1971 domestic matches. If pandemic situation does not get better in India then BCCI will host only 1487 matches during this period.

In the last domestic cycle, the BCCI could only manage to organize two trophies – Syed Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare Trophy.  The cutdown of the domestics season put the financial strains on domestic players last season. Many former and current players of the domestic circuit have raised the concern of financial insecurity.

But in this season, the domestic cycle of the BCCI will consist of the Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy ,CK Nayudu trophy and Vijay Hazare trophy. Apart from these trophies BCCI will also conduct age group tournaments. BCCI will organize Vijay trophy for the university level, three trophies for the under 19 ,level and one Trophy each for under 23 and under 16 level. BCCI has also announced to organize Senior Women’s One Day trophy and Senior Women’s T20 challenge.

In the second plan of BCCI, they will conduct all all the mentioned tournaments even if the situation doesn’t it looks good but will follow some of the restrictions.

BCCI will enforce 7 day Quarantine period for all the teams before every tournament. All the teams will be divided into six groups and point system will be revised to reduce the maximum number of matches. The knockouts of each tournament will be played according to the previous years rules. But the thing that is most important is that it won’t be possible for BCCI to host the matches on Home-Away Venue system rather than sticking to the “Neutral” Venue System.

The Board has decided to increase the match fees of the the domestic players up to 90% depending on the the experience of the player. This is  the great news for  the domestic players.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has yet not announce the actual dates of the tournaments. “The BCCI is confident of hosting the domestic season with health and safety of players and all people involved being paramount.” Says BCCI secretary Jay Shah.

BCCI has some more good news for domestic players

As far as the wages increment, the board has also declared that Players with more than 20 First-Class Matches will now be getting 60,000 INR per day instead of 35,ooo INR. For players with less than 20 First-class matches experience will get 45,000 INR per day. Apart from this hike, the board will also look to compensate the players for the loss of domestic season in 2020. This comes as a good news for the domestic players and it was always expected for the richest cricketing body of the World.

If a Players who plays only first-class Cricket and is not the part of the IPL, then it is very dificult for him/her to get his “Roti”, also from our sources we got to know that there will a contract system for players even in domestic cricket as well so that more and more can become the part of the Cricketing Industry.
