As IPL 2025 kicks off on May 17, teams are grappling with the challenge of overseas player availability due to concurrent international commitments and ongoing tournaments. Several prominent players have either withdrawn, are unavailable, or are only partially available for the remainder of the season.

Here’s a team-wise overview of players who have refused or are unable to participate in the IPL 2025 playoffs.

IPL 2025

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

CSK, already out of the playoffs of IPL 2025, will play their last matches on May 20 and 25. They face a lack of clarity regarding overseas players: Rachin Ravindra (NZ) is unavailable, Jamie Overton (ENG) is on international assignment, and Sam Curran (ENG) is unavailable due to unspecified reasons.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

With 11 points from 12 matches, KKR’s playoff hopes depend on other results. Their absent overseas players include Moeen Ali (ENG), who has withdrawn, and Rovman Powell (WI), who is doubtful for the remaining IPL 2025 due to injury.

Top of the table, Gujarat faces a headache with key players. Jos Buttler (ENG) is expected to leave after the league stages due to scheduling conflicts. He, along with Kagiso Rabada (SA), won’t be available for playoffs. Kusal Mendis (SL) is expected to replace Buttler in the playoffs.
