Indian cricket fans have been treated to a heartening video of Rishabh Pant, showcasing his batting and wicketkeeping skills during a training session. The clip, which appears to be from an indoor practice, displays Pant’s impressive cover and straight drives, as well as a well-executed pull shot.
This footage comes as a relief to fans who have been concerned about Pant’s recovery after a severe car accident in December 2022.

The accident left Pant with multiple injuries, including cuts on his forehead, bruises on his back, and damage to his ankle. He underwent surgeries for ligament tears in his right knee and then embarked on an extensive rehabilitation program at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
Despite his significant progress, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been cautious not to rush Pant’s comeback, as they did with Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah during their injury layoffs. A source close to the developments revealed that Pant’s recovery has been better than expected, especially concerning his knee and ankle’s ability to bear the load during wicketkeeping.
With the Indian Premier League (IPL) likely to commence in a month, Pant’s participation as a wicketkeeper for his franchise, Delhi Capitals, is a positive sign. In the previous season, the Capitals were led by David Warner and finished ninth out of 10 teams.
Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting recently expressed his confidence that Pant will be ready to play in every match of the upcoming IPL season, although it remains uncertain if he will resume wicketkeeping duties.
