After some controversial statements by the cricket pundits, Indian team believe that they deserve the place in the World Test Championship final as they have played impressive cricket throughout the span of two years.
After showing proper dominance Overseas as well as at home India booked their place in the World Test Championship final. After defeating England 4th test in Ahmedabad, India qualified for the finals of the WTC. India will face New Zealand on 18 June at Southampton.
Indian needed to win the last Series by the margin of 2-1 but after losing the first match of the series they made a comeback and please the series by 3-1. Indian players including Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ashwin and captain himself believes that they deserve a place in the final and the Championship is not less than any World Cup.
“We are quite relived now that we’ve made it to the final. If you look at the last two years how we’ve played, we deserve to be in the final. Now it’s just about getting together as a group again and focussing on that one big game which is quite exciting for all of us,” Kohli said in a video posted by the Indian Cricket board (BCCI).

“Some of them have not played in a Cricket World Cup. It will be like the Cricket World Cup for most of them.
I’m so very happy for someone like Ishant Sharma, who got selected in the 2015 Cricket World Cup and he couldn’t play because he was ruled out due to injury towards the last minute. For someone like him to get to the World Test Championship final would mean the world.
“I’m incredibly happy for him and many of the others for whom it means a lot.”
New Zealand became the first team to qualify for the ICC World test Championship final and now they will play against India following their series against England which recently concluded on Sunday.
ICC General Manager, Geoff Allardice stated that it is a pinnacle event in the history of test cricket . This might became a week long celebration for the test cricket. This is the traditional form of the cricket.
It took many years to host a event like this for the oldest form of the game. The final between India and New Zealand will be an epic clash and history will remember this. The final will be played at Rose bowl, Southampton between India and New Zealand. The neutral venue has been selected for this epic final. Both teams are familiar with the English conditions but they are different from their home. In the history of 89 years, India will play its first test on a neutral venue. New Zealand have played a test series against Pakistan in United Arab Emirates which was a neutral venue for both the teams. Only 46 tests have been played at the neutral venue. Pakistan played the most number of tests at neutral venue. They have played 36 tests at neutral venue so far.
“I suppose having a different opposition, playing in a neutral country is an exciting prospect,” the New Zealand skipper ,kane Williamson said.
Test cricket is the test of real character. It is the oldest and the toughest format of the game. This format tests the temperament , patience and skills of a player. Certain with the rise of the shortest format of the game , the test cricket started to decline. This format of the game needs to be preserved. It is the foundation the game. To preserve and promote the toughest format ICC introduced the World Test Championship. It is like a test world cup which will attract people all round the globe. The final of this WTC becomes an all important event . It will decide the future of test cricket.

“See it is the first time that you have a World Test Championship final. When you look at that and the magnitude of the game that is going to be played, I think this is the biggest, if not the biggest-ever. It is the toughest format of the game, it is a format that tests you. It has not happened over the three months, it has happened over two years where teams have played each other across the world and earned their right to play in the finals. It is one hell of an event,” Shastri said.
