This ICC men’s T20 world cup has been very disappointing for the Bangladesh team. The Bangla tigers have under performed in this tournament. The team was highly dependent upon their skipper Shakib Al Hasan, but he could manage to make a mark in this World Cup. Some reports suggest that Shakib might bid adeiu to International cricket after the world cup. So today, we’ll look at 3 contenders for Bangladesh T20I captaincy.

Mehidy Hasan

Mehidy Hasan would be another young and exciting option for Bangladesh looking at the future. This bowling all-rounder has become the frontline spinner in the past few years due to his leadership qualities. However, he didn’t got much chance to create his impact in the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. He has been a wicket taker for the Bangladesh side and has been handy with the bat.He also the captaincy experience as he led Bangladesh in the Under-19 World Cup in 2014 at an age of 16. He has certainly emerged as one of the brightest young stars in the country and that’s why Bangladesh Cricket Board can make him the next captain of Bangladesh’s T20I set-up.

Litton Das

This 27-year old wicketkeeper-batter would be a good option for the T20I captaincy. In recent years, he has delivered some important performances with his bat in all formats of the game. He has been agressive and dependable batter for the Bangladesh team. He carries lots of T20 experience to his name.As far as the wicketkeeping slot is concerned, he is considered good enough to be a successor to Mushfiqur Rahim. Hence, he could be a long-term solution for Bangladesh if they show some faith and patience in him.

Soumya Sarkar

Soumya Sarkar has been with the team from a very long time. He is a all format player for the Bangladesh team.  His batting has been brilliant from the team’s point of view. He also bowls some valuable medium pace. He is also a brilliant fielder. Bangladesh can pace him as next T20 captain if Shakib Al Hasan retires.
