Virat Kohli had told with his bat that he has returned to his form by scoring a century against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup this year. After that Kohli continued to bat brilliantly in limited overs.

Virat blasted in T20I World Cup, it looked like he would end his drought of hundreds in Tests after hitting form. He had a golden chance against Bangladesh, but could not capitalize on it.

Virat was dismissed for one run in the second innings of the second Test against Bangladesh on Saturday (December 24). This was his last innings in international cricket this year. Now Team India does not have to play any match this year. The Indian team will take on Sri Lanka in January.

Kohli failed not only in the second innings but in the entire series. He scored one in the first innings of the first Test and 19 not out in the second innings. In the first innings of the second test, Virat could only score 24 runs. Now he failed in the second innings as well.

How was Virat’s performance this year?

Kohli played a total of six Test matches in 2022. During this, he has scored 265 runs in 11 innings. Kohli’s highest score was 79 runs. He has scored runs at an average of 26.50. Virat did not score a single century. He scored only one half-century against South Africa, Virat had played an inning of 79 runs in Cape Town.

That innings in Cape Town was his first innings of the year and he got off to a good start with a half-century. After that it seemed that this year would be great for Virat, but it did not happen. Kohli could not reach the 50 mark in the next 10 innings.

Kohli without a century for three consecutive years

Kohli scored his last century in Test against Bangladesh on 23 November 2019. He played a century in the Day-Night Test at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Virat had scored 136 runs. Since then he could not score a century in 2020, 2021 and 2022. Even Virat has not been able to touch the figure of 80 runs since his century.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, he got a chance to play only in three Tests. Kohli scored 116 runs in three matches at an average of 19.33, during this a half-century was scored. There, in 2021, Virat scored 536 runs in 11 Tests at an average of 28.21. He had played four half-century innings.
