India and New Zealand are preparing for the epic clash in the World Test Championship Final. The final will be played in Southampton, England between 18 to 22 June. Kiwis have already started their campaign as they are facing England in a two match series. The 1st test ended in a draw.

Team India has also started their practice in Southampton after completing their isolation period.  Many experts have predicted that  New Zealand will have a slight edge over the Indians as they are already used the conditions and the kind of wickets that are being produced in England.

Ind vs NZ, 2016 T20 world cup 

India were caught in their own spin web against New Zealand in 2016 T20 World Cup

 

In 2016, World T20 the Indian team was the top Contender to win the World Cup.  Due to home conditions and explosive batting order made them the favorites. The Indian team had an edge over the New Zealand team in that tournament.

In the first half of the match New Zealand after winning the toss elected to bat first and posted a total of 126 for the loss of 7 wickets. Corey Anderson was top scorer for the team scoring 34 runs and Luke Ronchi scored 21 runs.

In the very first over of the innings Shikhar Dhawan got out to Nathan McCullum and Rohit Sharma was also stumped by Santner at the score of 5. Suresh Raina was dismissed for one. 29 for 5 every Indian fan seem to be hopeless.

Despite resistance from Dhoni and Kohli, the Indian team was booked for 79.  Dhoni scored 30 which Virat scored runs. Santner was pick of the bowlers taking 4 wickets. Ish Sodhi took 3 wickets. India faced the upset in their first match of the tournament.

ICC knockout Trophy, 2000

Once again the Indian team was the top Contender to win the 2000 ICC knockout trophy which was held in Nairobi. India defeated the teams like Australia and South Africa to reach the finals.

India after losing the toss were made to bat first. The opening pair of Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly scored 141 runs for the first wicket. Sachin got run out at the score of 69.

After his dismissal the Indian batting lineup got collapsed but Ganguly completed his century. He scored 117 off 130 balls. According to the start made by the openers,  India should have scored more than 300 runs but they only managed to get 264 for the loss of 6 wickets. The score was not a winning score according to that track.

India’s hopes were lifted when Venkatesh Prasad send Spearman and the skipper Stephen Fleming cheaply. Astral scored a brilliant 30 runs.  Tendulkar got rid of McMillan. New Zealand were 132 for 5.

But Chris Cairns scored a brillant century and kiwis lifted their maiden and the only ICC title. He scored 102 off 113 . He got valuable from Harris’s 46. They won by 4 wickets.

2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup

The loss of 2019 Cricket World Cup semi final is difficult to digest for the Indian fans just like the loss against Sri Lanka in the 1996 cricket world cup.  India were well on  their way to win an ICC trophy but once again Newzealand team upset the Indian fans.

In the big match at Manchester, New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first. Jasprit bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja strike early and got rid of dangerous Martin Vuptill and dependable Henry Nicholls.

Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson stitched a 65 Run stand for 3rd wicket. Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed Kane Williamson for 67.  At the point of Williamsons dismissal the Kiwis were 134 for 3 at the end of 36 overs.  Hardik Pandya dismissed explosive Nessham and Bhuvneshwar Kumar got rid of Colin De Grandhomme for mere a 16 runs.

The rain came in the 46th over. Semi final was shifted for the Reserve day. When the game resumed Ross Taylor was run out by Ravindra. The Kiwi scored underwhelming total of 239 at the loss of 8 wickets.

The target was not huge but  the New Zealand’s bowling attack was the talk of the tournament. The inform Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Matt Henry with a Peach of a delivery.  Sharma was the highest scorer of the tournament. KL Rahul , Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik were dismissed for single digit scores. India were 24 for the loss of 3 wickets. Hardik Pandya and Rishabh pant scored 32 runs each. India lost their 6 wickets for the score of 92.

India’s hopes were shattering very quickly. Then came Ravindra Jadeja and played one of the finest knocks in the world cups. He scored quickfire 77 and was dismissed by Trent Boult while trying for the another big hit.

The former Indian Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was struggling to score runs. He scored 50 runs off 72 balls. He was run out by Guptill, trying to steal a second run. This eventually turned to be his last inning of his carrer.

India was all òut for 221 . This defeat knocked India out of the 2019 world cup.

2007, T20 world cup

India vs New Zealand at the 2007 world T20

India’s first encounter with New Zealand in t20s was at 2007 world T20. India’s first match in World T20 was washed out.

Batting first, New Zealand scored a mammoth total of 190 runs all out in 20 overs. Brendon Mccullum was the top scorer for the team scoring 45 of just 31 deliveries.

Explosive batting from McMillan and Jacob Oram helped New Zealand  to achieve this huge total. McMillan scored 44 which Oram scored 35 off just 15 balls. Harbhajan and RP Singh took 2 wicket each.

India were off to a blistering start,  Sehwag was playing at a strike rate of 235. He scored 40 in 17 balls. Well set Gambhir hammered 51 off 33.

Daniel Vettori’s brilliant bowling helped kiwis to crush Indian team by 10 runs. He took 4 wickets. He was adjusted the Man of the Match.

India faced New Zealand in the Super 7 match of the world cup.  Indian skipper won the toss and took a strange decision to bowl first on very dry surface.

India were off to a good start. Zaheer khan took two consecutive wickets in the first over. He dismissed McMillan on the second ball of the match and Astle on the third ball.

New Zealand never got settled. They were bowled out for 146 odd runs. Stephen Fleming top scoring for team with 30. Oram and Cairns supported him with 23 and 20 respectively. Zaheer khan took 4 wickets and dismantled the Kiwis inning.

India got to a poor start. Ganguly and Sehwag went to the pavilion cheaply. Tendulkar got out on 15. But the pair of Dravid and Kaif came to rescue. Kaif scored terrific 68. Dravid steady the Indian inning with 53.

New Zealand faced rare defeat by the Indian team in the history of ICC events. Zaheer khan was awarded the player of the match .
