The Indian team will start the new year by playing the home series against Sri Lanka. Three T20I International matches and three ODI series will be played between India and Sri Lanka. BCCI recently announced the Indian team for both the series.

Many young players got a chance in this, but there were some players who definitely deserved to get a chance, but they did not get a place. Let’s have a look at them.

Prithvi Shaw – The young batsman represented India in all the three formats but is currently on the run. The 23-year-old Prithvi last played a match for India on 25 July 2021. The right-handed batsman continued to perform well in domestic cricket and the IPL, but still did not find a place in the team.

Rajat Patidar – The batsman from Madhya Pradesh was included in the Indian team for the first time for the ODI series against South Africa in October 2022, but did not get a chance to debut. Patidar also got a place in the ODI squad against Bangladesh, but did not get a chance to play. Now he has been dropped from the team without playing a single match.

Shardul Thakur – Mumbai all-rounder Shardul Thakur got a chance in the ODI series against Bangladesh. He took three wickets in the final match, but was dropped from the team despite this.

Avesh Khan – Madhya Pradesh’s fast bowler Avesh Khan played his last ODI for India against South Africa in October. Avesh Khan performed well in the Ranji Trophy, but did not find a place in the team.

Shahbaz Ahmed – Bengal all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed made his ODI debut against South Africa in October. He also got a chance to play one ODI against Bangladesh. But now he has been dropped from the team.
