West Indies tour of Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series
After getting knocked out from the group stage of 2021 T20 WC, both West Indies and Sri Lanka are set to play Tests. West Indies are on a tour to Sri Lanka for a Test series of 2 matches starting from 21st November.
Sri Lanka had some positive individual performances from players like Wanindu Hasaranga and Charith Asalanka, keeping the Lankan side higher on confidence. West Indies ended their T20 WC campaign on a bit disappointing note, winning just 1 out of the 5 matches played. The teams will be eyeing the points for the ongoing World Test Championship cycle.

The two teams have previously met 22 times in Tests, with Sri Lanka being victorious on 9 occasions. West Indies has won only won 4 of them, remaining 9 test matches ended up in a draw. Three of the last five Test matches between Sri Lanka and West Indies ended up in draws as well.
The South-Asian side have won their last series against the West Indies in 2015. On the other hand Windies last won a series against the Sri Lanka in the year of 2003, which was almost 2 decades ago. To everyone’s surprise West Indies have never managed to defeat Lanka in a test series at their home. Can Windies turn the tables off and create history this time? Well only time will let us know!

Angelo Mathews is back as well in the national team, the experienced all-rounder will benefit this young side. Charith Asalanka and Chamika Karunaratne also get a slot in the squad after their good performances. Dimuth Karunaratne will be leading the test team against the Windies, and will also be the backbone of the Lankan top order.

The 15 men West Indian squad includes the name of an uncapped player Jermy Solozano, who is a left-handed opening batter. Kieron Powell has been dropped from the test squad due to his poor performance against Pakistan. Brathwaite, the top scorer for the Windies will be leading the West Indian squad at Galle. He has scored 444 runs at an average of 34.15 against the host side in Tests which includes a ton and two half-centuries.
