Indian bowlers who have claimed No.1 Rankings in Test cricket
Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin finished the year 2015 as the world’s top-ranked Test bowler. He displaced South African pacer Dale Steyn from the top spot. Ashwin became the first Indian bowler since Bishen Bedi in 1973 to achieve this milestone.
Ashwin’s form with the ball in Test cricket has been exemplary as in 2015 as he took 62 wickets in nine Tests this year, at an average of just over 17.
Ashwin reclaims the top spot among bowlers after taking 6 wickets in his most recent performance, in India’s comfortable win over Australia in the second Test replacing James Anderson who dropped to second place after England’s stunning loss to New Zealand in the Wellington Test.
The 36-year-old Ashwin first claimed the honor of being the No.1-ranked Test bowler in 2015. No fast Indian bowler has achieved this feat till now and no other Indian bowler has claimed the no.1 spot more than once other than Ravichandran Ashwin.
