They have managed to beat teams like Ireland and Netherlands, who were fancied way more as compared to a team like Namibia.
The country from the southwest coast of Africa, which has hardly done anything great in the Sporting areana has significantly grown over the years and promises to be much more than their past. Post the Bostwana tour in 1990 in Namibia, the Nertherlands then toured them later on. In November 1989, a Namibian team toured Botswana and played their first international fixture, although the Namibian Cricket Board were not affiliated to the International Cricket Council until 1992. Namibia cricket then officially originated in 1992.

It became an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 1992. After they joined the ICC Namibia cricket soon became one of the leading ICC associate members from the region of Africa. Namibia then finished second during the ICC Trophy in 2001, thus, they qualifyied for the 2003 Cricket World Cup in South Africa too. The team with immense potential then made their One Day International (ODI) debut at the tournament but failed to win a match.
How it started for Namibia Cricket?
Beginning in 2004, the African Nation went on to then participate in almost every edition of the ICC Intercontinental Cup, they also finished runners-up in 2007–08. It also featured at the highest levels of the World Cricket League (WCL), twice participating in the WCL Championship, and finished third at the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier.
They have then attained ODI status in 2019 already, thanks to their finish as runner-up at the 2019 WCL Division Two tournament. They subsequently then qualified for the ICC T20 WC. Finally post that we saw Namibia cricket live up to their potential as they beat Ireland and Netherlands and now are in the Super 12 state of the tournament. It will be exciting to watch them play.
