In a heartfelt message, former Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya expressed his gratitude to fans and the management for an “unforgettable journey” with the franchise as he made a move back to the five-time champions Mumbai Indians. After two years away, Mumbai Indians officially confirmed Hardik’s return on Monday.

Pandya took to social media to convey his appreciation, stating,

“I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the fans, team, and management at Gujarat Titans. Being part of the team and leading it has been an absolute honour, and I am immensely thankful for the love and encouragement my family and I have received as a player and as an individual. The memories and experiences with GT will forever hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for the unforgettable journey.”

During his two-year stint with Gujarat Titans, Pandya played a pivotal role in the team’s success. In their debut season in 2022, he led the team to a fairytale start, clinching the coveted trophy. Despite finishing as runners-up in the following season, Pandya’s leadership and all-round performances left an indelible mark.

In his 31 appearances for GT, Pandya showcased his prowess with the bat, amassing 833 runs at an impressive average of 37.86 and a strike rate exceeding 133. His all-round capabilities also saw him contribute with the ball, taking 11 wickets for the team, with the best figures of 3/17.

With Hardik Pandya bidding adieu to the captaincy, the young and talented Shubman Gill has taken up the leadership role for Gujarat Titans. Gill, who has been a standout performer for the team since its IPL debut, has accumulated 1373 runs in 33 innings at an impressive average of 47.34.

Last season, he was a force to be reckoned with, smashing 890 runs in 17 matches at an average of 59.33 and earning the coveted Orange Cap.

Expressing his delight at assuming the captaincy, Gill stated,

“I am delighted and proud to assume the Captaincy of Gujarat Titans and thank the franchise for their trust in me to lead such a fine team. We have had two exceptional seasons, and I keenly look forward to leading the team with our exciting brand of cricket.”

As Gujarat Titans undergo a change in leadership, fans eagerly anticipate witnessing Shubman Gill’s captaincy and the team’s continued success in the upcoming seasons of the IPL.
