A case of fraud of Rs 44 lakh has come to light with Indian team fast bowler Umesh Yadav. According to the police, Yadav was cheated by his former manager and friend in the name of getting land in Nagpur.
According to a PTI report, a police officer said that following a complaint by Umesh Yadav, police have registered a case of cheating against Nagpur-based Shailesh Thakre.
Shailesh Thakre is a resident of Koradi and he was a friend of Umesh. Shailesh has not been arrested yet. The police officer quoted from the FIR informed that Umesh Yadav appointed his unemployed friend Shailesh Thakre as the manager on July 15, 2015 after he was selected in the Indian team.
Thakre won Umesh’s trust over time. Shailesh started looking after the fast bowler’s bank account and money related work including income tax.
Police informed that Umesh Yadav wanted to buy land in Nagpur and he informed Shailesh about it. Thakre sees a plot in a barren area and tells Umesh that it will be available for Rs 44 lakh. Umesh Yadav deposited the money in Thakre’s account. But Thakre bought this plot in his name.
When Umesh Yadav came to know about this fraud, he asked Shailesh Thakre to return the money. In response, Shailesh refused to do so. The official said that Shailesh refused to return the money to the Indian cricketer. “Fast bowler Umesh Yadav has lodged an FIR in Koradi, in which a case has been registered under sections 406 and 420 of the IPC” the official said.
