The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been one of the most consistent sides. Their legacy is one to remember. The most recent CSK triumph itself is a very inspirations story. Despite not having a great season in 2020, they turned the tables this time around. CSK managed to win the title this season. This CSK triumph is thus one of the their best uptill date. However, how did this CSK triumph occur? What were the reasons behind this CSK triump?
CSK triumph in IPL-2021 were only due to these 3 reasons
1) Backing Their Players:
One of the best part about this CSK triumph is the fact that they backed their players. One of the biggest talking points behind every season is how this franchise backs their players. What’s surprising is they even back their players even when they go through a rough patch and return with a sting of low scored. Even Moeen Ali had said that he would have been dropped had he be playing for another franchise. CSK on the other hand back their player and this gives them the confidence to do better and thus, finally come good.

2) Sticking To Their Plans:
This CSK triumph saw the Super Kings stick to their basics. They had a formula as well as a plan for the upcoming season and stuck to it. Even in the IPL 2021 Auctions, one could clearly see that CSK were looking to get a batting all-rounder. After failing to get Glenn Maxwell, they went for Moeen Ali and got him for a hefty price. This in turn did work out well for them. Similarly every individual in the team had a fixed role in the team and thus, performed those roles to perfection. Besides, role clarity is very important in order to successfully work in a team.

3) Abundant Match Winners:
This CSK triumph saw a lot of match winners for India. One of the biggest similarity between CSK’s triump in 2018 and this CSK triumph is the fact that CSK has several match winners performing exceedingly well on their respective days. In 2018 we saw the likes of Bravo, Billings, Rayudu, Watson and Faf win matches for CSK. Despite blowing hot and cold, these players were able to win atleast a couple of matches on their own and that’s what is necessary in a T20 tournament. Be it Faf, Gaikwad, Ali, Rayudu, Thakur, Chahar, Jadeja or Bravo, all made significant contributions in this season.
What’s Next For The Yellow Army?
With the addition of 2 new IPL Teams and Fresh Auction, CSK will have to give away their winning combination and will probably have only 3-4 (max) Retention Cards to retain their core group. Going by the words of CEO of Chennai Super Kings Franchise Mr.Kasi Viswanathan, ‘MS Dhoni will be the first player to get retained through the Retention Card’. Also the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Dwane Bravo and Shardul Thakur will be the other expected Retention Card beneficiaries.
Hoepfully, the IPL Fans will get one more year of ‘Thaliava Magic’!
