Difficulties have increased for the Sri Lankan team in the T20I World Cup.
Sri Lanka’s pace spearhead Dushmantha Chameera along with Danushka Gunathilaka have also been ruled out of the T20I World Cup.
On one hand, Chameera suffered a calf injury while bowling her last spell against UAE on Tuesday. Meanwhile, left-handed batsman Gunathilaka, who did not play in the match against the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has been ruled out of the tournament due to a left hamstring injury and will be replaced by travel reserve Ashen Bandara.
Binura Fernando can be included in the team :-
Injuries to Chamira and Gunathilaka are a huge blow to Sri Lanka in both the bowling and batting departments. Let us tell you that against the UAE, the bowlers of Sri Lanka were completely dominant.
Talking about the qualifying points tables, Sri Lanka are currently third in their group with two points. Earlier, fast bowler Binura Fernando has been included in the team after the injury of Madhushanka. Both Fernando and Lahiru Kumara are likely to play against the Netherlands.
Sri Lanka board may send extra bowlers :-
At present, due to injuries to several fast bowlers in the Sri Lankan team, there is a possibility that other players may be called from Sri Lanka.
England’s star bowler ruled out from T20I World Cup due to injury
While talking to the media, Shanaka said, “We have players like Kasun Rajitha, Asitha Fernando, Matheesha Pathirana. We are fine for the next game, but as the tournament progresses, we need a few more bowlers. In practice we don’t want to ruin our core sharpness. I think definitely two or three fast bowlers will be here soon.”
