BCCI announced a new salary structure for the Indian women players. The new salaries will make them more richer than some male cricket teams in the world. According to the statement made by the BCCI that Indian women cricketers are earning 35% more compare to Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Afghanistan men’s team. This decision of equal pay is a good step and will help in bringing more talented cricketers from different districts of India. Harmanpreet Kaur is highest paid women cricketer in India. She earns 25% to 40% extra match fees based on his captaincy tag. Her retainer fee’s rise from $65,000 a year to $100,000 based on her match fees. Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma, Poonam Yadav, and Rajeshwari Gayakwad all were selected in A contract. But still no Indian women player selected for A+ category where retainer fee is more than 1 crore a year.

Jay Shah, the President of the Asian Cricket Council said “I’m pleased to announce BCCI ’s first step towards tackling discrimination. We are implementing pay equity policy for our contracted BCCIWomen cricketers. The match fee for both Men and Women Cricketers will be same as we move into a new era of gender equality in Indian cricket”
