India will have to beat Zimbabwe in the only match remaining to reach the semi-finals of the T20I World Cup.

India beat Bangladesh to boost their hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals. If India wins against Zimbabwe, they will qualify for the semi-finals by finishing on top of Group 2. If the match is canceled due to rain?

Rain proved to be the biggest villain for many teams in the T20I World Cup being played in Australia. Although the teams of Group-2 did not have much trouble due to rain, but in Group-1 the matches of New Zealand, England, Australia and Afghanistan were canceled.

This led to several major upsets in the semi-final qualification. On Sunday, November 6, India will take on Zimbabwe to secure their seat in the semi-finals.

Teams current positions in points table of Group-2

India is currently in the first place with 6 points in Group-2 of the T20I World Cup tournament. While South Africa is second with 5 points and Pakistan is at third place with 4 points.

If India’s match against Zimbabwe is of 5-5 overs or not, then both the teams will be given one point each. In such a situation, India will remain on top with 7 points. If South Africa beat the Netherlands, they will reach the top with a better net run rate.

What if India loses?

If India loses against Zimbabwe, South Africa will come on top due to better net run rate. If South Africa beat the Netherlands, they will qualify for the semi-finals by finishing on top.

Also, if Pakistan defeats Bangladesh, then in this situation Pakistan’s chances of reaching the semi-finals will increase. In such a situation, India can reach the semi-finals only if South Africa loses to the Netherlands, but India would like to be on top with a win against Zimbabwe.
