Hardik Pandya has been one of India’s best match winners of late. It is safe to say that Hardik Pandya has been an asset to the Indian team. His three-dimensional skills are a boon when it comes to the shortest format of the game. However, his form of late hasn’t been that great of late. His form has been lukewarm. In the ongoing IPL 2021, he was able to play well in just the one game.

Hardik Pandya hurted his chances by not even bowling a single over in the IPL-2021

The fact that he isn’t bowling hasn’t helped his cause either. Hardik Pandya however has been added to the Indian squad for the upcoming 2021 T20 World Cup (WC). As every team is allowed to make changes to their XI. There are various reports and sources indicating a chance of him being dropped from the squad.

There’s a likelihood of him being dropped from the WC squad. This BCCI source was quoted saying that “It’s not decided if Hardik Pandya will be dropped altogether if he doesn’t get bowling ready. But he is running out of time as an allrounder. If any one of Thakur and Deepak gets in, then there’s a chance of the selectors asking Harshal Patel to stay back in UAE.” Thus, Deepak Chahar or Shardul Thakur might replace him.

Harshal Patel proving to be ahead of Hardik Pandya

Another name that has popped up to replace Hardik Pandya is Harshal Patel. He is in the reckoning. The RCB seamer has been in superb form and is currently the Purple Cap holder in the ongoing IPL as well.

The fact that teams can change their squads comes as an advantage as India are sweating over the fitness of Varun Chakravarthy. “”Chakravarthy is seen as an X-factor and the team management is very keen to have him in the team. But the state of his knees will also be assessed. It needs to be seen if the team’s medical staff is confident of managing him through the tournament.” Claimed a source.
