The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) celebrated excellence and legacy at its annual awards ceremony, with Shardul Thakur and Siddhesh Lad emerging as the standout honourees. Both were conferred the prestigious Justice Tendulkar Trophy for Best Senior Cricketer—Thakur for the 2024–25 season and Lad for 2025–26—recognising their consistent performances and impact in domestic cricket.

Shardul Thakur’s award reflects his continued value as a dependable all-rounder across formats. Known for his ability to deliver breakthroughs and contribute crucial runs, Thakur has been a key figure in Mumbai’s domestic campaigns as well as in Indian cricket.
Siddhesh Lad, on the other hand, earned recognition for his consistency and leadership in the 2025–26 season. A technically sound batter with strong domestic credentials, Lad’s contributions have reinforced Mumbai’s batting depth and stability.

The awards ceremony witnessed the presence of several prominent figures from Indian cricket, including legends like Sunil Gavaskar and Dilip Vengsarkar, alongside former players Rajeev Kulkarni and Diana Edulji. The event was presided over by MCA president Ajinkya Naik, with state cabinet ministers Ashish Shelar and Aditi Tatkare also in attendance.

One of the highlights of the evening was the felicitation of players and support staff associated with India’s recent World Cup triumphs. Among them was Ayush Mhatre, who captained India to the Under-19 Men’s World Cup title, marking a significant milestone in his young career.
From the senior men’s T20 World Cup-winning squad, Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube were honoured for their contributions. Their performances at the global stage further reinforced Mumbai’s reputation as a powerhouse of Indian cricket talent.
The ceremony also recognised emerging and established stars from other formats. Sanika Chalke and Abhigyan Kundu were acknowledged for their roles in India’s Under-19 World Cup victories, while Jemimah Rodrigues, along with coaches Amol Muzumdar and Aavishkar Salvi, were honoured for their involvement in the women’s World Cup success.

The MCA also took the opportunity to felicitate its champion teams that secured major domestic titles across formats and age groups. These included victories in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, Under-14 West Zone Championship, Under-23 Women’s One-Day Trophy, Vijay Merchant Trophy (Under-16), and the Women’s Under-15 One-Day Trophy.

The ceremony also paid tribute to individuals who have dedicated decades to Mumbai cricket through Lifetime Achievement Awards. Shobha Pandit and Shrikant Tigdi were honoured for the 2025–26 cycle, while Chandrakant Patankar and Ravindra Savant were recognised for 2024–25.
