The Indian cricket team kicked off their tour of Zimbabwe with the first T20I encounter in Harare on Saturday, sporting a unique jersey with a single star. The reason behind this unusual design is that the team departed for Zimbabwe before the T20 World Cup final, and as a result, they are still wearing jerseys designed before their triumphant victory.
India’s recent success in the T20 World Cup 2024 has seen a significant number of senior players return to the squad, and they will be led by Shubman Gill, who won the toss and opted to field against Zimbabwe.
The young captain expressed his thoughts on the toss, stating that he believed the surface would remain good throughout the match and that it was an exciting moment for the team after winning an ICC event after an 11-year hiatus.
The Indian team includes three debutants – Sharma, Jurel, and Parag – who will be looking to make an impact on the international stage. The absence of two stars on the jersey is a temporary phenomenon, as the new designs with two stars will be unveiled once the team returns from their Zimbabwe tour.

This slight modification is a testament to India’s growing legacy in T20 cricket, having won the tournament twice – in 2007 and 2024.
