After restricting Australia for below 140 runs, Zimbabwe went on to chase the total with the help of a brilliant half-century from Brendan Taylor.

Financial Crunches hurting Zimbabwe cricket team
Their finances situations hasn’t helped the cause of the Zimbabwe Cricket Team either. It is very sad when one realizes that the Zimbabwe Cricket Team was found guilty by the ICC during the time of the investigation. That’s the reason Zimbabwe not in ICC T20 World Cup.
There was an investigation which as taking place to see if Zimbabwe’s national cricket administration was found to be a breach of the government body’s constitution. As a matter of fact, the board was not able to ensure that no involvement of government or any governmental bodies in the governance or administration of cricket and hence, this ban sadly had to come through. This ban has not only affected the men’s team but also the women’s team. They will also not be part of the tournament as both of the groups have been banned.
This ban came as a shock to not only for the Zimbabwean cricketers and the Zimbabwe Cricket Team from the country but also to the fans all around the globe. As of now, Zimbabwe aren’t allowed to participate in any kind of ICC events.
Thus, Namibia and Nigeria have replaced Zimbabwe in the upcoming Men’s and Women’s T20 WCs respectively. Namibia’s women are all set to compete in the upcoming Qualifier in Scotland which is all set to commence on August 31. On the other hand, Nigeria’s men will be featuring in October’s Qualifier in the UAE.
What’s next for Cricket Zimbabwe?
With already missing out the berth for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021, Cricket Zimbabve will look to talk with ICC regarding their participation in the future ICC Events, as it’s the most important for the development of the game in the country. Cricket Zimbabwe would also expect other giant cricketing bodies like Cricket Australia, ECB and BCCI to come forward and help the cricket starving nation who were once the promising side.
