RP Singh, a former fast bowler of the Indian cricket team and a member of Team India that won the T20I World Cup in 2007, is currently playing the role of a commentator in the South Africa T20I League.

RP Singh answered many questions regarding the Indian cricket team as well as this league during a virtual press conference. He gave a statement regarding opener Shikhar Dhawan, in which he told whether Dhawan will be seen playing in ODI World Cup 2023 or not?

RP Singh gave a statement regarding Shikhar Dhawan  –

In fact, when a journalist asked former Indian bowler RP Singh whether Shikhar Dhawan would be a part of the ODI World Cup 2023 or not? So answering this, RP Singh said that the blueprint has been prepared for the ODI World Cup 2023, but I am not sure whether Shikhar Dhawan is a part of it or not.

The spot that Shikhar Dhawan plays has had a good run so far, but now the strike rate is starting to matter. Along with this, now new players are getting a chance. There is a glut of new players now, in which Shubman Gill, Ishaan Kishan as well as Rituraj Gaikwad are good batsmen. After the arrival of these players, now I find Shikhar Dhawan’s chances less.

After this, RP Singh was asked that Joffra Archer and Dewald Brevis are representing the Mumbai team in the South Africa T20I League. In such a situation, how much Mumbai will benefit in IPL 2023 by Jofra’s return and Brevis joining the Mumbai team.

In response to this, he said that Mumbai would benefit greatly from Jofra’s return as Mumbai suffered losses due to his injury last season. In the season 2022, the Mumbai team was facing many challenges, although this does not happen with this team. This team brings great players with them.

Although Stubbs was in the team, but Jofra is not part of the team. Now both the players are fit and in rhythm, so it will be beneficial.

Brevis cannot be compared to AB de Villiers

On the other hand, about Brevis, RP said that he cannot be compared to AB de Villiers as he is very different and I have played with him. As far as baby AB is concerned, he bats strongly at cow corner, mid wicket, square leg but De Villiers was different.

It is good that he is being compared with this great, but he has a long way to go. Apart from this, RP Singh said that he considers Mumbai’s team MI Cape Town as the biggest contender of South Africa T20I League.
