Amidst the speculation of tour being called-off due to the new-COVID variant ‘Omicron‘, the Board of Control For Cricket In India(BCCI) has decided to continue their tour of South Africa, showing the great bond between the current managements of the two countries. Obviously, we all know how good friends were Sourav Ganguly and Graeme Smith in their playing days.
With Netherlands tour of South Africa was postponed indefinitely after just the 1st ODI, which was also a rain-curtailed affair, it was on the cards that India-A will also come back but BCCI still decided to go on with the tour to give a clear message that India’s tour in ON. However, BCCI seized this opportunity to trim down the tour by postponing the T20I Series and the tour will now only comprise of 3 Tests and as many as ODIs. Ahh! That gave nostalgic feeling, when there were only Test and ODIs. But one must appreciate BCCI’s decision to favor the declining ODI-format ahead of Trending T20Is.
