Indian Under-19 Women have become T20I World Cup champions. Team India defeated England by seven wickets in the final. This is the first edition of the Women’s Under-19 T20I World Cup and India has created history by winning it. Batting first, the entire England team was reduced to 68 runs. In response, India achieved the target by losing three wickets in 14 overs.

India was placed in Group-D –
India was placed in Group-D along with South Africa, UAE and Scotland. In their first match of the group stage, Team India defeated South Africa by seven wickets. After this, UAE was defeated by India by 122 runs and Scotland by a huge margin of 83 runs.
The only defeat was in the Super Six –
India’s first match against Australia in Group-I of the Super-Six stage. In this match, the Australian women’s team won by seven wickets. This was Team India’s first and only defeat in this tournament. After this, in the second match of the Super Six, India defeated the Sri Lankan team by seven wickets and qualified for the semi-finals.
India defeated New Zealand by eight wickets in the semi-finals. The Indian team became the champion by winning the final by seven wickets.

Many players of India’s Under-19 team may can be selected in the Indian team for the Senior Women’s T20I World Cup tournament to be held next month. Apart from Shefali Verma, players like Shweta Sehrawat, Parshvi Chopra and Richa Ghosh can make it to the senior team.
