Wasim Jaffer recently became the first cricketer in Ranji Trophy history to cross the 12,000 runs landmark. Ranji Trophy is the India’s most renowned tournament in Domestic cricket from where the Indian Cricket got the best cricketers. Two seasons ago he also became the first to cross the 11,000 runs and the legend is still climbing rhe new heights at the age of 41. Having made his debut in 1996-97 season Jaffer has been consistently scoring the bulk of runs who spend the major part of his career with Mumbai and his now leading Vidharbha. And were crowned the champions in the last year. This shows how much hunger the lion has still have who is not only focusing on scoring runs but also setting the benchmarks for the younger cricketers. Many cricketers had already told about his mentoring in their development. So now we will discuss about his three records that he currently holds in the 86- year old Ranji Trophy history.

1)- Most Runs in Ranji Trophy

Wasim Jaffer has most runs in the Ranji Trophy history. The bearded lion has scored 12,038 Runs till date and still plans to play and nurture the young talent. Earlier he also became the first to score 10,000 and 11,000 runs respectively. He is leading the charts which such margin that hardly anyone would be able to surpass that with Amol Majumdar second in the list with 9,202 runs. With such data we feel sad that how India failed to utilized the ability of such a talented bastmen.

2)- Most Hundreds in Ranji Trophy

Wasim Jaffer also holds the record for scoring most centuries in the Ranji Trophy history. The veteran of 156 Ranji Matches has notched up 40 centuries till now and the most important thing is that he is still active so the numbers are all set to be rise from here as well. Talking about the charts second in the list is Ajay Sharma who had scored 31 centuries. Amol Majumdar and Bundela with 28 centuries are third on the list. With these players currently retired, Jaffer’s record seems to be unbreakable as far as for next 30-40 Years. But one will have to score bulf of centuries consistently to break his record.

3)- First to play 150+ Ranji Matches

In December 2019, Jaffer became the first to play 150 Ranji Trophy Matches. The legend achieved this feat while playing for Vidharbha against Andhra Pradesh at Vijaywada. Talking about the charts here, Bundela is second with 145 Ranji Trophy Matches and Amol Majumdar is third with 136 Ranji Trophy Matches. With both currently inactive and Jaffer still standing tall at 156 Ranji Trophy Matches, there is a huge probability that hardly some one will overtake him in regards to this feat as well.
