Team India would look to start their test cricket from the scratch, as the focus now shifts to the upcoming WTC 2025-27 cycle. This new cycle promises a challenging and exciting lineup of series, with India aiming to build on their past performances and strive for their first WTC title.
Under the guidance of head coach Gautam Gambhir, whose contract runs until 2027, the team is poised for a competitive journey, potentially marking the end of some legendary careers.
The WTC 2025-27 cycle begins with a formidable assignment—a five-match Test series in England scheduled for June 2025. This tour is considered one of the toughest challenges for India in this cycle, given England’s strong home advantage.

Having reached the final of the previous two cycles but not clinching the trophy, Gambhir will be eager to lead India to success if he remains at the helm.
Following the England series, India will host two important home fixtures. In October 2025, the West Indies will visit for two Tests, providing an opportunity for India to consolidate their standing. Later in December, South Africa will tour India for a two-Test series, further testing India’s resilience and skill.
The WTC 2025-27 cycle continues into 2026 with a slightly reduced schedule—only four Tests. In August 2026, India will travel to Sri Lanka for two Tests, followed by a tour to New Zealand between October and December, comprising another two Tests. These away series will be crucial for gaining valuable points and experience.
