Former Indian team captain Sunil Gavaskar wants Delhi Capitals to remove David Warner from the captaincy. Gavaskar believes that Akshar Patel should be made the captain of Delhi as it will also benefit the Indian team in future.

Talking on Star Sports Cricket Live, Sunil Gavaskar said, “I believe that Akshar Patel should be appointed as the captain of Delhi Capitals. He is an honest player. He is in good shape. By becoming the captain of the franchise and performing better, the Indian team can also benefit. All this is done keeping in mind the long term.”

Let us tell you that Akshar Patel is in excellent form at the moment. He is continuously performing better from Delhi. Delhi Capitals defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 runs in the 34th match of IPL 2023 on Monday. Akshar Patel performed all-round in this match and became the player of the match.

Akshar Patel is Delhi’s second highest wicket-taker this season. He has taken 6 wickets in seven matches. He is also the second highest run scorer of Delhi Capitals.

The left-handed batsman scored 182 runs in seven matches. After registering a win against Hyderabad, Akshar Patel said that he is enjoying bowling more than his batting.

He said, “Taken two wickets for 21 runs while scoring 34 runs in 34 balls. That’s why two wickets are important. When three wickets fell in an over, I had ordered coffee, its glass remained the same. Manish Pandey and I had discussed that we need to take the match deep.”

Delhi Capitals have registered two wins in seven matches and occupy the 10th or last position in the points table of IPL 2023. On the other hand, this was the fifth defeat of Sunrisers Hyderabad in seven matches and they are at the 9th position in the poi nts table.
