India is gearing up to host South Africa in an action-packed women’s cricket series, scheduled to kick off from June 16 to July 9. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled the schedule for this much-anticipated event, featuring a variety of formats to keep fans engaged.
The series will commence with a warm-up One-Day game between South Africa and the Board President’s XI on June 13 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Following this, the teams will lock horns in a three-match ODI series, starting on June 16 at the same venue. All ODIs will be part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25 cycle and will begin at 1:30pm IST.
The excitement will peak with a one-off Test match at the historic M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, scheduled from June 28 to July 1. India’s recent home Test victories against England and Australia in December 2023 have set the stage for an intense battle against South Africa.
Notably, the last encounter between India and South Africa in red-ball cricket dates back to November 2014 in Mysore, where India clinched a convincing victory with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur leading the charge with nine wickets.

Following the Test, the series will transition into the T20 format with a three-match series starting on July 5, all set to electrify fans at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
India enters this series on the back of a triumphant 5-0 T20I series win against Bangladesh, while South Africa will aim to bounce back from recent setbacks, including a T20I series loss against Sri Lanka and a drawn ODI series. Notably, South Africa had the upper hand in their previous encounter with India, emerging victorious in the Tri-series final ahead of the T20 World Cup 2023.
The upcoming series against South Africa is just the beginning of a busy season for India, with the 2024 Women’s T20 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka kicking off on July 19, followed by the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh starting on October 3.
