Cricket Ireland has issued a statement expressing its deepest sympathy to Simi Singh, a talented allrounder who has been battling life-threatening health circumstances. The 37-year-old has been a vital cog in the Irish cricket team, playing 35 ODIs and 53 T20Is for the country.
Simi Singh’s remarkable career has seen him take 39 ODI wickets at an average of 25.92 and an economy of just 3.99, as well as 44 T20I wickets at 27.84 with an equally impressive economy of 7.61.
His impressive performance in the 2021 ODI series against South Africa, where he took 19 wickets at 20.15 and hit his highest score of 100 not out off 91, earned him a spot in ESPNcricinfo’s men’s ODI Team of the Year.

The Cricket Ireland CEO, Warren Deutrom, issued a statement expressing the board’s support and prayers for Singh’s recovery. “We have received shocking news that our friend Simi Singh is currently dealing with life-threatening health circumstances,” Deutrom said. “We now hope that this same drive will see him come through the current circumstances.”
