Former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag and Shoaib Akhtar used to see a fierce battle with bat and ball on the field. There are also many stories of the brawl between Viru and Akhtar in the 22-yard pitch.
However, off the field, Sehwag and Shoaib were good friends as well and the two never missed an opportunity to pull each other’s leg. One such anecdote is narrated by Sehwag, when the former Pakistan bowler made fun of the scanty hair on his head.
While talking on the show Breakfast with Champions, Sehwag talked about his off-field friendship with Shoaib Akhtar. Veeru told that even though there used to be a fierce fight between him and Shoaib on the field, but outside the ground they are very good friends.
Sehwag told that Shoaib Akhtar also does not leave any chance to pull his leg like him. Veeru said that the former Pakistan fast bowler once made fun of the scanty hair on his head. Shoaib had said, “Sehwag doesn’t have hairs on his head as much I have notes.” Veeru also replied to this comment of Shoaib in a funny way on the show. He said, “I now have more hair and Shoaib now has less notes.”
Sehwag revealed on the show that he was scared of getting out against Muttiah Muralitharan. Sehwag said that he was never afraid of getting out against bowlers like Shoaib Akhtar, Brett Lee, but Muralitharan was the only bowler, who used to give fear of losing wickets to Veeru as soon as he caught the ball.
