In a significant decision, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced an increase in the salaries of the players in the Pakistan cricket team. This decision was taken on Friday, marking a positive change for the players’ financial well-being.

As per media reports, the upcoming year will see a notable increment in the earnings of Pakistani cricketers. Notably, three players have been included in PCB’s A-grade list, namely Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi.

The decision entails that these players will now receive approximately $15,900 (around 13 lakh rupees) per month, totaling an annual salary of 15 million rupees. Previously, these players were earning approximately $4,700 (about 46 lakh rupees) per month.

Meanwhile, players in Category B are in line to earn nearly 3 million PKR (around $10,600), while Category C and D players will receive between 0.75 to 1.5 million PKR (approximately $2,650 to $5,300).

However, when compared to the salaries of Indian cricketers, Pakistani players still trail significantly. The salary hike is a game-changer for those cricketers who were receiving the lowest remuneration at the international level.

It’s worth noting that the participation of Pakistani players in foreign T20I leagues has played a vital role in augmenting their earnings. Discussions are ongoing about allowing Pakistani players to participate in more leagues next year, with the possibility of top two-category players being permitted to play outside the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

This salary increase represents a positive step towards recognizing the players’ contributions and providing them with better financial incentives. It is hoped that this move will encourage and motivate the cricketers to perform at their best and bring more glory to Pakistan cricket on the global stage.
