Indian captain Rohit Sharma and opener KL Rahul will miss the home series against Sri Lanka starting January 3. According to sources, Rohit is yet to fully recover from his thumb injury. 

Rohit had injured his thumb in the second ODI against Bangladesh. At the same time, KL Rahul will tie the knot during the series. Sri Lanka has to play three T20Is and three ODIs in India from January 3 to 15.

In terms of batting, 2022 has not been anything special for both Rohit and Rahul. In two Tests this year, Rohit has scored just 90 runs at an average of 30. His best score has been 46. At the same time, in eight ODIs, Rohit has scored 249 runs at an average of 41.50. In this, his best score is 76 not out.

Talking about T20I matches, Rohit played 20 matches and scored 656 runs at an average of 24.29. His strike rate was 134.42 and he also scored three half-centuries. Overall, Rohit scored 995 runs in 40 innings and he could not even cross the 1000-run mark.

During this he scored six half-centuries. This is the first time since 2012, when not a single century came out of his bat. On the other hand, talking about KL Rahul, KL played ten Test matches and scored only 137 runs at an average of 17.12.

During this he scored a half-century. In 10 ODIs, he scored 251 runs at an average of 27.88 and scored two half-centuries. 73 runs was his best performance.

Rahul scored 434 runs in 16 T20I matches in 2022 at an average of 28.93. During this, six half-centuries came from his bat and 62 runs was his best score. This year, Rahul scored 822 runs in 30 matches at an average of 25.68. There are nine fifties in this.
