Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal has made a big announcement, Nadal has said that he will not participate in the French Open this year, he is troubled by a hip injury. Nadal, who has won 14 French Open titles, indicated that 2024 could be his last year in professional tennis.
Nadal has been away from tennis since 18 January. The 22-time Grand Slam champion confirmed in a press conference that he is yet to fully recover. The ace tennis player pulled out of the Monte-Carlo Masters and clay events in Madrid and Rome earlier this month.
Nadal said – the injury has not healed. I have worked hard to get back on the pitch, but it is impossible for me to play at Roland Garros (French Open). It’s hard, but my body has made up its mind. I will not play for the next few months as the results in the last few months have been below par.

Nadal said that although he has achieved success in recent years, he has not been able to “enjoy” tennis after the pandemic. The Spaniard also expressed his desire to play in all the major tournaments in the 2024 season, insisting he wants to end his career next year.
Nadal said- I want to play continuously, but I have got injuries. This has made it very difficult. In the last few months, I have worked very hard to come back. Now I want to take time to recover. I will not give a return date. I will return when I am mentally and physically ready.
He further added, Getting back to Davis Cup and starting 2024 off to a good start, but 2024 will probably be my last year on the professional tour. My job is to try and enjoy. Also saying goodbye to all the tournaments that have been important to me.
