Paris Olympics 2024 Day 1 Live Updates: 

  • SAT 1:30 PM IST, Ramita and Arjun finished in a respectable sixth place, while Elavenil and Sandeep came in 12th. Unfortunately, only the top four teams advance to the medal match. The top two teams will battle it out for the gold, while the third and fourth place teams will compete for bronze.

  • SAT 1:40 PM IST, India’s Sarabjot and Arjun will compete in the men’s qualification event. Later, at 3:30 PM, Bopanna and Balaji will take to the court in the men’s doubles first round. The day continues with Manu Bhaker and Rhythm Sangwan in the 10m air pistol women’s qualification event at 4:00 PM IST.

  • SAT 2:24 PM IST, Kazakhstan has claimed the first medal of the Paris 2024 Games, securing bronze in the 10m air rifle mixed team event!

  • SAT 3:10 PM IST, China dominated the mixed team 10m air rifle event, claiming gold. The Republic of Korea earned silver in a close competition.

  • SAT 3:20 PM IST, Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be for Sarabjot. Despite some impressive shooting, he narrowly missed out on qualification, finishing in ninth place. Only the top eight advanced. Arjun finished in 18th position.

  • SAT 3:45 PM IST, China has secured the first gold medal of the Paris Games! They triumphed over Korea in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team Final, claiming victory with a score of 16-12. This marks China’s first gold in shooting at these Games.

  • SAT 4:27 PM IST, Manu Bhaker is currently in fourth place in the 10m air pistol women’s qualification event. She had a strong start, scoring 97 points in the first series. She added 49 points in the second series. Rhythm Sangwan is currently in 14th place in the standings.

  • SAT 4:36 PM IST, Jin Ye Oh of Korea and Llayda Sevval Tarhan of Turkey have moved back into second and third place respectively. India’s Manu Bhaker is currently in fourth place. Bhaker had a strong start to her second series, hitting three 10s and one 9.

  • SAT 4:55 PM IST, Manu Bhaker is aiming for a top-three finish. She moved into second place after a strong third series, scoring 98 points. Rhythm Sangwan finished her qualification event in 18th place with a score of 97.

  • SAT 5:00 PM IST, Manu Bhaker finished her fourth series with a score of 96, putting her in fourth place. The fifth series is currently underway. Turkey’s Sevval Ilayda Tarhan has taken the lead. Rhythm Sangwan has improved her position, moving into 13th place.

  • SAT 5:17 PM IST, Manu Bhaker has qualified for the women’s 10m air pistol final! Hungary’s Veronika Major took the top spot in the qualification standings, overtaking Korea. Bhaker finished her final series with a score of 96. Unfortunately, Rhythm Sangwan did not make the cut.

  • SAT 5:28 PM IST, Manu Bhaker secured a strong third-place finish in the women’s 10m air pistol qualification round, scoring 580 points after 60 shots. She also registered 27 inner 10s. Rhythm Sangwan finished the event in 15th place.


  • SAT 5:52 PM IST, Novak Djokovic, the top-seeded men’s player, has kicked off his quest for a gold medal at the Paris Games. The record-breaking Grand Slam champion is facing Australian Matthew Ebden in the first round of the men’s tennis tournament, taking place on the prestigious Court Philippe Chatrier.

  • SAT 5:38 PM IST, Lakshya Sen is poised to begin India’s badminton journey at the Paris Games 2024. He’ll face Kevin Cordon of Guatemala in a men’s singles group match, starting at 7:10 PM. Meanwhile, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will also be competing. Later, Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto will take the court in the women’s doubles group match.

  • SAT 7:52 PM IST, Kevin Cordon is maintaining a comfortable lead, but Lakshya Sen is fighting back. A long return from near the net landed out of bounds, leaving Lakshya four points behind in the second game. Cordon added another point, putting him just two away from taking the second game.
  • SAT 7:58 PM IST, Lakshya Sen staged a remarkable comeback in the second game, reeling off back-to-back points to close the gap. Suddenly, it was a one-point game. He then tied the score at 20-20. The momentum shifted dramatically as Lakshya rattled off five straight points to earn match point. He closed out the game with a sixth point in a row, turning a 16-20 deficit into a 22-20 victory. Sen’s stunning comeback against veteran Kevin Cordon, completed in straight games, took just 42 minutes.

  • SAT 8:30 PM IST, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have taken the first game, 21-17, against Corvee-Laba. The Indian duo secured the win in 23 minutes.

  • SAT 8:57 PM IST, Due to persistent rainfall in Paris, the men’s doubles match between India’s Rohan Bopanna/Sriram Balaji and France’s Gael Monfils/Edouard Roger-Vasselin, scheduled for 3:30 PM IST on Court 12, has been cancelled. A new time for the match is yet to be announced. This was India’s only tennis match on Day 1 of the Paris Olympics.

  • SAT 9:15 PM IST, New Zealand has stunned India in the first quarter of the men’s hockey tournament at the Paris Games. Same Lane scored the opening goal for the Kiwis.

  • SAT 9:32 PM IST, India has equalized against the Kiwis with a goal in the second half, bringing the score to 1-1.

  • SAT 10:09 PM IST, New Zealand is mounting a strong challenge, evidenced by their relentless pressure that has forced India to save four consecutive penalty corners. The margin remains just one goal (2-1), with the Kiwis determined to equalize.

  • SAT 10:46 PM IST, India’s men’s hockey team has started the Summer Games strong, defeating New Zealand 3-2 in their opening match.
