The anticipation builds for the IPL 2025 season, the Mumbai Indians (MI) are gearing up to assemble a formidable playing XI that blends experience with youthful exuberance. With some strategic acquisitions and player retention, Mumbai is poised to fight for the title once again.

Openers: Rohit Sharma and Will Jacks

Rohit Sharma, Mumbai’s seasoned opener with 6,628 IPL runs, remains a vital player in the team’s batting lineup despite stepping down from the captaincy. At 37, his experience is invaluable, and he is expected to open the innings alongside England’s Will Jacks. Bought for ₹5.25 crore, Jacks aims to forge a solid partnership with Rohit and provide Mumbai Indians a strong foundation right from the start.

Middle Order: Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya

Tilak Varma will likely occupy the No. 3 spot after an outstanding run of form, including three consecutive T20I centuries. Suryakumar Yadav, India’s T20 captain and a proven match-winner, is set to bat at No. 4, while all-rounder Hardik Pandya is expected to bounce back at No. 5, adding significant depth and finishing prowess to Mumbai’s batting lineup.

All-rounders: Naman Dhir and Robin Minz

Punjab’s Naman Dhir, who made a mark last season, is anticipated to take the No. 6 position, stepping up effectively when Suryakumar was absent. Behind the stumps, Robin Minz, an exciting talent from Jharkhand, will act as the finisher at No. 7, following his acquisition for ₹65 lakh.

Bowlers: Mitchell Santner, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, and Deepak Chahar

The bowling lineup sees the inclusion of Mitchell Santner, addressing Mumbai’s spin needs. Leading the pace attack will be the legendary Jasprit Bumrah who unfortunately wouldn’t be available till April first week but team will await for him for a solid comeback after the injury with him, Mumbai has Kiwi pacer Trent Boult, who returns for ₹12.5 crore.

Deepak Chahar, bought for ₹9.25 crore, will complement their efforts, solidifying Mumbai’s bowling strength.
